(note 1) The Macedonian flag is similar to the ensign of the Imperial Japanese Army. The Macedonian flag was adopted on 5 October 1995. The day was Takashi Sasakawa's 60th birthday. He is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet. More importantly, he is the second son of Ryoichi Sasakawa, who was a Japanese businessman, politician and philanthropist. He was accused but acquitted of being a Class A war criminal after World War II.
