1941 – ◆World War II: Attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Imperial Japanese Navy attacks the US Pacific Fleet and its defending Army Air Forces and Marine air forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Japan time).
Not only the date but also the year of the attack was a pun. The puns were made from the combination of the two dates of the Mongol invasions of Japan.
■ October 20, 1274 (Koki 1934) in the Japanese calendar - Battle of Bun'ei. Kublai Khan's Yuan Dynasty attempts the first of several invasions of Japan (The number of the Koki year is 660 years more than that of the Gregorian year).
■ July 30, 1281 (Koki 1941) in the Japanese calendar - Battle of Koan. The second Mongol invasion of Japan is foiled, as a large typhoon – famously called a kamikaze, or divine wind – destroys much of the combined Chinese and Korean fleet and forces, numbering over 140,000 men and 4,000 ships.
The Japanese government took the year 1941 from the Battle of Koan and the date October 20 from the Battle of Bun'ei, respectively. Then the Japanese government determined the date of the Pearl Harbor attack to be October 20, 1941 in the Japanese calendar. The day was December 8, 1941 (Japan time) or December 7, 1941 (US time).

1948 - ★The National Personnel Authority is established (Japan).
October 21, 1947, The National Public Service Law was promulgated. Under the law, the Temporary National Personnel Commission was created on November 1, 1947. However, the National Public Service Law was devised on December 3, 1948. Thus, the Temporary National Personnel Commission was abolished and the National Personnel Authority was established on this day.

1980 - ◆(death) John Lennon, English musician and peace activist (The Beatles). (timeline)
(Islamic calendar) January 30, 1401
(Hebrew calendar) October 1, 5741
(Iranian calendar) September 17, 1359
Lennon is murdered by Mark David Chapman, a mentally unstable fan, in front of The Dakota apartment building in New York City.

As the result of the examination, it is highly probable that this murder case was just a conspiracy and a farce.
-
2005 - ◆AKB48, a Japanese female idol group, debuts (Tokyo, Japan).
AKB48 is said to have been named after Akihabara (Akiba for short), the area in Tokyo where, on the 8th floor of a Don Quijote store, the band's own theater is located.
※
But it debuted on November 7, 2005 in the Japanese calendar. On that day, former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori was arrested in Chile.
The Japanese embassy hostage crisis occurred on November 7, 1996 in the Japanese calendar. Technically, Fujimori was offered dual citizenship by the Japanese government in 1986. At that time, he was 48 years old.
Fujimori's full name is Alberto Kenya Fujimori, which strongly insinuates "AKB48".
Finally, December 8 was the day of Pearl Harbor Attack.
