'Airlines terror plot' disrupted BBC NEWS 10 August 2006 A plot to blow up planes in flight from the UK to the US and commit "mass murder on an unimaginable scale" has been disrupted, Scotland Yard has said. It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled in hand luggage on to as many as 10 aircraft. Police are searching premises after 21 people were arrested. Home Secretary John Reid said they believed the "main players" were accounted for. High security is causing delays at all UK airports. The threat level to the UK has been raised by MI5 to critical after the arrests in London, High Wycombe and Birmingham. Critical threat level - the highest - means "an attack is expected imminently and indicates an extremely high level of threat to the UK". Three US airlines are believed to have been targeted. Mr Reid said had the attack gone ahead it would have caused a loss of life of "unprecedented scale". He said they were "confident" the main players were in custody, but neither the police nor government are "in any way complacent". |

Kazoedoshi age reckoning system in the Japanese tradition Japan has a variety of age reckoning systems. For some reason or other, Japan is a very complicated and inexplicable society. The age reckoning system is no exception. For most contemporary Japanese, it is very hard to understand fully the traditional systems. So, for most foreigners, it is even more difficult to understand them. So, on this site, let me explain the reckoning system very simply, though the explanation is not absolutely precise. Both end years are included Generally speaking, the starting year is not included in age reckoning. and the age is counted from the next year. But in the Japanese traditional kazoedoshi age reckoning system, both the starting year and the ending year are included. Consequently, in the kaozedoshi age reckoning system, the person's age is a year older than the general counting system. Conspiracy Calendar > October 12 Japan has a special legal birthday reckoning system ■ Age Reckoning Law Japan introduced the Western calendar system on December 22, 1902. This law is referred to in Japanese Wikipedia, but I don't find any English translation in the Internet. So, let me try to translate it briefly here. The Japanese government introduced the Western calendar system in counting the number of years, but failed to change the Japanese counting system between days. Still now, with regard to counting the birthday, it is required to include both the starting day and the ending day. In other words, a person's birthday doesn't fall on the birthday but falls on the day just before the birthday, exactly according to the Japanese law. ※ On this site, let me allow to call the Japanese legal calendar system as "Japan's legal birthday". Unfortunately, it seems that the Japanese government uses this legal counting system in some conspiracies as a secret code. |
